9.1 billion tonnes of Carbon Dioxide gas is added to the earth’s atmosphere each year from activities like using fuel to facilitate our deliveries.
Each month, Freight Save calculates the total (tonnes) of goods transported through our network and purchases carbon offsets through our registered charity partners, Greenfleet. There is no cost passed onto members for our climate action and participation in monthly offsetting is automatic.
Greenfleet offsets the carbon emissions generated through our members’ deliveries by planting native, protected forests across Australia and NZ and restoring waterways and habitat for native wildlife.
Each year, Greenfleet delivers climate action by restoring native forests and other large-scale revegetation projects in Australia and New Zealand. Since 1997, Greenfleet have planted 10.8 million native trees and restored 550 native forests that will remove over 4.9 million tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere as they grow.
Greenfleet is working to protect Australia’s endangered sea turtle population through the creation of “low glow” coastal communities. By revegetating a site called Barolin just out of Bundaberg, Greenfleet is establishing a native forest that will act as a green curtain to shield Loggerhead Turtle hatchlings from artificial light when making their way to the sea. Loggerhead Sea Turtles return to Mon Repos Beach every year to lay their eggs so this project will have long term conservation benefits.

Greenfleet owns a number of properties in South Gippsland and in the coming years, Wurneet Laang Laang will become part of a 3.5-kilometre, contiguous stretch of protected koala habitat in the region.

South Gippsland is home to some of the strongest koala populations in Australia. By restoring protected native forests in this region, Greenfleet is creating and extending habitat for these iconic animals.
